FOR THE ATTENTION OF KATHRYN THOMAS:
Dear Kathryn Thomas,
Thank you for your e-mail of 16 April 2015,
In line with the above petition we seek advice whether Statutory Day Centres could be implemented in Stage 3 of the
Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.
We look forward to your reply and thank you for all your assistance.
Kind regards,
Pam Hughes.

Response from clerking team
Dear Pam
Thank you for your e-mail below.
It might be possible for us to put your request to the Committee when it next considers your petition. As a legislature, we wouldn’t be able to provide an interpretation of a piece of Government law.
However before we can consider how best we can help, I would be grateful if you could provide further information on what you mean by your reference to ‘Stage 3 of the Act’.
I look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes,
Kathryn Thomas
Response from Petitioner
Thank you for your e-mail of April 22nd.
We (SPADC Committee) would ask for your guidance please, - I am not sure at which stage the Bill is at .
Whatever Committe discusses the provision of Day Centres for the elderly, we stress that with the privitization
of Residential Homes, (this is happening in Ceredigion), this will increase the work of unpaid carers at home, looking after elderly relatives. At present, in Aberystwyth, people attend the two Residential Homes for assisted bathing (Basement Day Centre does not have bathing facilities) and some attend to socialise.(on a daily basis).
Under the Section of "Prevention" in the Bill - will this be discussed at a forthcoming meeting? Day Centres
would ideally come under that heading.
I note that Mark Drakeford said "day care would be in third place ..not ruling them out..pressing priorities ... in front of day care." Can the above be included in any future discussions?ats.
If provision is not standardized throughout Wales, it will be a Poscode Lottery. All Authorities should be providing the same facilities.
I am having difficulty in finding the relevant documents. Any information you think would be beneficial to our cause! could please send in alternative form. A Big Thank YOU.
What more can this Committee do?
Best Regards,
Pam Hughes

Final response from the clerking team
Dear Pam
Thank you for your e-mail below. I’m very sorry that it’s taken a while to respond however I wanted to speak to colleagues to see how best the Committee can help you to progress matters.
We will include your comments below in the information that goes to the Committee for its next meeting on Tuesday 2 June. If you have anything further to add at this time I would be grateful if you could let me have any comments by next Thursday, 21 May. Please let me know if you have any further queries at this stage.
Kind regards,
Kathryn Thomas
